Dr. Samuel B. Rose joined Community Chiropractic Clinic in late 2002. He has been a chiropractor since 1993 and had his own clinic for 6 years. He practiced in Spain for a year and has done a chiropractic mission in El Salvador.
Dr. Rose was born and raised in Anchorage, Alaska. He attended West and Bartlett high schools and started undergraduate work at University of Alaska, Fairbanks. He finished his undergraduate studies at University of California, Santa Cruz, earning a B.A. in Biology. His major was in marine biology with an interest in aquaculture of invertebrates. He says the cosmic joke is that he majored in invertebrates and is now an expert in the spine.
Before attending chiropractic college, Dr. Rose worked in a variety of fields. He was Information and Referral Coordinator for the Suicide Prevention Center in Anchorage from 1986-1989. There, he edited and published the Resource Guide, a list of local and state social services and other agencies still in use today. He worked as staff at the Seward Sea Otter Rescue Center during the Exxon Valdez Oil Spill. He has also worked for the State of Alaska as staff in the Legislature and in the Department of Natural Resources. Dr. Rose has also worked in tourism and professional theater.
Dr. Rose has completed several hundred hours of post-doctoral continuing education. These have been in areas of nutrition, chiropractic techniques, management, whiplash, medico-legal issues, and physio-therapy modalities such as Frequency Specific Microcurrent.
Dr. Rose has been involved our community at both the local and state level. He served on the Board of Directors of APTI (public radio and TV in Anchorage, KSKA & KAKM) for 6 years, including one year as Chair. He was involved in the North Star Community Council from 1996-2004, serving variously as President, Vice-President and Secretary. He was also the representative to the Federation of Community Councils. Dr. Rose has been involved in Alaska Chiropractic Society, serving as a member of the Board. He has assisted in lobbying the Alaska Legislature on behalf of the Society, educating legislators on chiropractic issues.
For recreation, Dr. Rose enjoys biking, hiking, fishing, camping, skiing (both alpine and Nordic), skating, sledding, and sea kayaking as well as many other outdoor activities. He bought his first boat last year and is looking forward to learning and enjoying boating this coming summer. He also enjoys singing, cooking, baking, music and the arts.
