Headaches & Migraines

Headaches are one of the most common conditions that drive patients to a chiropractic office and almost ½ off all adults in the US will have them at some point in their life. They can be among the most debilitating of musculoskeletal complaints but the good news it that they often respond very well to chiropractic care. Light, sound, smells, stress, posture, neck injury, trauma, and metabolic issues are some of the major contributors to the symptoms of various forms of headaches that exist. Migraines (a form of headache) can classically present with disturbed visual patterns in addition extreme levels of discomfort. Your visit with the chiropractor for headaches will include a detailed history which often reveals the underlying source of many headaches. Physical examination is also important as it can reveal many of the pre-existing issues that lead to headaches. When appropriate, the doctor may order x-ray, MRI, blood testing, and other special studies are reserved when the history and examination do not provide enough information. Treatment for headaches can include dietary considerations, workspace ergonomics, stress reduction, cervical and occipital manipulation (adjustments), soft tissue work, and rehabilitative stretches and exercise. The right diagnosis and treatment can have a dramatic affect on their outcome. Even chronic headache cases that have persisted for years have responded well to chiropractic care in our office.
